RAF Benevolent Fund - Falklands Yomp
Trustee, Mel Sims, took it upon himself to take part in a “yomp” to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund. The Falklands Yomp is a physically demanding 120km trek across difficult terrain –peat bog, tussock grass and rock, with winds in excess of 20mph.
The “yomp” took approximately 5 days and during this time Mel camped out, using sheep sheds and outhouses for overnight cover. Whilst it did not replicate the difficulties that the armed forces endure, it is a unique challenge that Mel did a fantastic job participating in.
We donated £10,000 to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
